The City of Ottawa is conducting a watershed study to examine the Bear Brook Watershed, which currently faces challenges stemming from climate change, urban expansion and intensified agriculture. The City is working collaboratively with South Nation Conservation to conduct this multi-year study to examine existing watershed conditions, determine how future land use and climate change may affect natural systems, and recommend actions to maintain a healthy watershed to support future generations.
The City is holding an in-person public information open house to highlight the results of the Bear Brook Watershed Study Characterization Report and to learn more about current watershed conditions. This is an opportunity to learn, engage and participate in protecting our Ottawa wetlands and other important lands that the watershed encompasses, including forests and farmland. All residents, landowners and partners are encouraged to come out and help shape recommendations for stewardship, monitoring and restoration in the watershed.
The Open House will be held on Thursday, November 13th, 2025 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Bearbrook Community Hall, 8720 Russell Road, Ottawa. No registration is required.
