CAFES and SmartNet Coalition (SNC) are thrilled to announce a new partnership that brings SmartNet’s long-standing public sustainability programs under the CAFES umbrella.
SmartNet Coalition (formerly SMARTNet Alliance) was founded by the Canadian Union of Skilled Workers (CUSW) to accelerate the transition to a sustainable economy by championing business collaboration and community learning. For over 10 years, SmartNet has delivered some of Ottawa’s most recognized sustainability initiatives, including the Sustainability Showcase (formerly Green Energy Doors Open and the SmartNet Sustainability Showcase) and Green Drinks Ottawa, a monthly gathering connecting professionals, innovators, and community members passionate about climate solutions.
CAFES will now provide the leadership, network reach and organizational capacity needed to ensure these programs not only continue, but evolve and grow. In 2026, CAFES will begin the redesign of Green Drinks, followed by a revitalized Sustainability Showcase in the summer.
CAFES’ growing network currently spans 54 organizational members with representation from all wards from the urban, suburban and rural areas in Ottawa. Our network will provide a strong foundation for this transition and we are so excited about this new partnership.
