CAFES Seeking New Treasurer

CAFES is seeking a Volunteer Treasurer to join our Board of Directors to oversee and support our financial health - ensuring sound budgeting, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting. This is a great opportunity for someone with experience or interest in non-profit finance, and a passion for local environmental sustainability. The monthly commitment is approximately 12 hours/month, and we are looking for someone who is located in Ottawa or the surrounding area.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise the Board on financial matters and present updates at monthly meetings.
• Oversee bookkeeping (QuickBooks), budgeting, and payroll (Rise People).
• Ensure CRA and ISED compliance, support annual filings, and liaise with accountants.
• Maintain internal financial controls and support staff with financial administration.
  

What We’re Looking For

• Experience or comfort with non-profit financial management and accounting tools.
• Familiarity with CRA/ISED filings (or willingness to learn).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to explain finances clearly.
• Collaborative mindset and commitment to environmental causes.
