Climate and Your Cash - Sun Nov 30th and Fri Dec 12th

Are you concerned about the impacts of climate change on your personal finances? Do you want to divest from financial products that support the fossil fuel industry? Do you want to learn about how you can re-invest for both returns and positive impacts – think renewable energy and affordable housing! Do you have questions about insuring your home for the changing climate?

The Climate & Your Cash event series is your opportunity to discover sustainability-focused investment advisors and organizations creating real change in the financial, investment and insurance worlds. We held two successful events this winter (Glebe Nov 30 and Kanata Dec 12).

This is a speaker series about the impact of climate change on our personal finances with the goal of providing Ottawa residents with tips and practical advice on:

  • Divesting retirement funds and banking from Fossil Fuel industries
  • What to look for in investment/financial organizations when re-investing retirement savings in a zero-carbon future
  • Strategies for climate-aware investing at the beginning of a career to early retirement opportunities for re-investing in your local community

The speakers will be followed by a Q&A on investment strategy and presentations on local investment products: Ottawa Renewable Energy Cooperative, 2025 Housing Forever Bonds, and Co-operators Insurance (Kanata only).

The third session is being planned with partners from CAFES Orleans Sub Caucus for March 7 2026. Mark your calendars! This is a project led by the Glebe Community Association Environment Committee with support from CAFES and some funding from City of Ottawa CEPGP.
