POP Letter to Mayor on City Response to Tariffs

The People's Official Plan (POP) Coalition, for which CAFES is an active co-lead, has submitted a letter to Mayor Mark Sutcliffe regarding the City of Ottawa's response to the threat of tariffs on Canadian exports to the United States. Tariffs would have significant effects to the economy that would be felt across communities. It will be imperative for local governments to take action and enhance resilience while also prioritizing equity, justice and environmental concerns. POP demonstrated support for the City's response and recommended that the City strengthen local food sovereignty, energy sovereignty, and circular economy.

Please check out our letter below. We encourage you to reach out to Mayor Sutcliffe or your Councillor to share with them your thoughts and recommendations on this matter. Find your ward and Councillor here!
